Fed Up with Your Job??? Want to feel happier??
Most people go through periods when they are fed up with the work they do. For example, after a great holiday…. you know where you’d rather be or it could be due to changes (again) at work - a new boss, a new company structure, new rules and procedures.
For some, however, it’s deeper and more serious; you just don’t like your job anymore and it’s a struggle to get up in the morning let alone go to work with a smile on your face.
What can you do to alleviate this? Well, you could go off to Las Vegas and try to win some cash to buy your way out. Or you could just pack in your job…. A fabulous thought, but then what do you do? And bills don’t get paid from an empty bank account. If this sounds familiar to you and you’re waiting for others to take action… think again, because you’ll be waiting a long time.
Here are some simple things you could do to make life more bearable:
-
Find some humour in everyday: it takes fewer muscles to smile than it does to frown; think of all the savings you’ll make on anti-wrinkle creams??!!
-
Make someone else’s day; do something for someone else which you know they will appreciate. (Ignore the negative voice which says ‘they’ll wonder what I’ve been up to!’ - make it a habit and they’ll cease to wonder).
-
Make a list of things you want to do, ie a balloon ride, seeing your favourite team playing in a big event, learning photography. Set yourself a goal to achieve (or start) one of these in the next three months.
-
Identify a personal project you want to work on—focus on something in the future, eg a big holiday or having a party.
-
Allow yourself to dream of a different job or different lifestyle. You might not be in a position to make changes today, but who knows what the future holds. The opportunity you’ve been waiting for maybe just around the corner…you need to know what it is to see it.
-
Spend time with people who make you feel good.
