Blakes Wine Bar is under new ownership and to celebrate they’ve brought in a whole new look for the premises. Andre and Babs, who have managed Blake’s for the last year, took over ownership of the popular venue during the summer and they have big plans to make Blakes the best sports bar in town!
To coincide with July’s smoking ban, Blakes has had a makeover and now has a fresh new look, with chocolate walls, lush plants, wooden floors and comfy leather sofas. Blakes will be showing all the action from the football leagues as well as the best in rugby, cricket, motor sports and horse racing. To make sure that sports fans feel at home, the owners have installed a huge 50” screen and there are several other screens around the bar to make sure you don’t miss out on a minute of the action. A visit to Blakes is also a great opportunity to view some of their collection of Formula One memorabilia which is displayed all around the bar. It’s a good venue for a sporting lunch too, as bar snacks are always available.
But it’s not just sport that will be pulling the punters in to Blakes - Friday nights are DJ party nights and there’s live music every Thursday with local bands including Philly K, Trev Williams, The Follys, Lost Chihuahua, Out of the Blue, Flower Station and Suede Alien all on the bill for October.
