Didcot say ‘Thank you for all the furniture’
The Helen & Douglas House shop in Didcot, wishes to say a big thank you to everyone who has donated furniture since they opened in March 2007. Julie Horton, the Didcot Shop Manager says, “the furniture is extremely popular and sells very quickly.”
The shop is really thriving at the moment and generous donations of furniture, bric a brac and clothes mean that volunteers are always needed.
Volunteering in our shops includes a wide range of duties for which full training is provided. It is a great way for students to boost their CV’s and for anyone who wishes to gain qualifications in retail, we can offer the opportunity of studying for an NVQ.
If you are interested or would like some more information, you can visit the Didcot shop at: 3 Market Place, Didcot, Oxfordshire, OX11 7LE or contact Hilary Burr, Voluntary Services Manager on 01865 799151
Decorating the Christmas Tree at Clarence House
On the 18th December 12 guests from both Helen & Douglas House were invited to decorate the Christmas Tree at Clarence House. HRH The Duchess of Cornwall and James Larner, Welsh Guards Captain, were joined by some of our guests in the library to decorate the 9ft fir. Ingrid Warren, a guest from Douglas House said “I really enjoyed the experience. The staff were very friendly and helpful, adding to an exciting and memorable morning.”
The event at Clarence House follows The Duchess of Cornwall’s visit to Helen & Douglas House in the summer, which welcomed her as the new patron of the charity.
