Give a little time this Christmas!
The Helen & Douglas House shop in Wantage is gearing up for the busiest, and most profitable, time of the year. “We need more volunteers to help us raise the maximum amount of money for the children and young people we support,” says Sue Jones, Assistant Manager of the shop. “We especially need a few more people to work on the till. It’s very easy; it doesn’t take long to train volunteers to use it confidently. We’re also looking for people who don’t want a regular commitment but who we can call on from time to time when we need extra help.”
Stella Church, who has been a volunteer at the shop since it opened in April 2006, would encourage anyone to have a go. “It’s a very friendly place to work. There are plenty of different things to do, and it’s always fun.”
There is an added bonus for anyone wanting to gain qualifications to help with starting or returning to paid employment, as volunteers can study for an NVQ in Retail while volunteering in the shop.
If anyone is interested in helping, they can call into the shop at 4 Market
Place, Wantage, or telephone Hilary on 01865 799151.

Thank you for the past 25 years
This November we celebrated 25 years since Helen House opened its doors as the world’s first children’s hospice. So many people have helped to ensure that we have been able to continuing offering one to one care both at Helen House and now Douglas House over these years. We are hugely grateful to all of you and would like to say a very big THANK YOU!
Wishing you health and happiness this Christmas.
