The Faringdon Family Centre, based at the Baptist Church in Bromsgrove, is a fantastic place for parents and pre-school children to meet and make new friends.
Opened in 2001 through a partnership between Faringdon Churches Together and the childcare charity Spurgeons, the centre aims to provide a range of activities including play therapy, support and self help groups. The centre is run by full-time manager Mike Robinson and staffed by volunteers; it’s open five days a week and provides a range of regular weekly and monthly groups and also runs occasional courses for parents.
Groups currently running at the centre are:
Tuesdays 9.30am-11.15am: Next Steps, a group offering structured play for children aged 15-30 months
Wednesdays 9.15am-11.30am: general drop in session open to all families
Fridays 10.30am-12noon:
Sunny Mummies (and Daddies) - a group specially for teenage parents and their babies; and 1.45pm-3.15pm First Babies, a support group for first time parents and their babies, with monthly visits from the health visitor.
2nd Monday of the month: NCT-organised activities for pre-school children and parents/carers
1st and 3rd Saturdays: Dad’s Group - a chance for Dads, Grandads, Step-Dads and other male carers to meet and spend quality time with their children.
