Why is it hard to keep ourselves motivated when we want our goals so much?
Achievement breeds motivation within all of us. tfd’s 2007 better body challenge has been set up to demonstrate that we can stay motivated, but we all need encouragement and constant positives to keep us there. If you’re fed up, feeling low, tired, achy, lethargic, bored, lonely, uncomfortable, with low self esteem and a lack of self confidence, surround yourself with positive people and take some action.
When our better body challenge was launched in February 2007, we really wanted to take on everybody, given their cries for help. The free 12 month personal training challenge only had room for four though and the chosen four were Lisa Faircloth, Lib Shaw, Kirsty Leggot and Sandra Whitaker. Unfortunately Sandra had to pull out last month, so we interviewed again and Sam Taylor of Wantage joined us in July to take on the challenge for the remaining 7 months.
tfd trainers, Faye Mortonson, Dave (Festy) Archer, Dave Johnson and Shauny Clayton are cracking on with 1:1 training sessions, weekly meetings and goal reviews to make sure the candidates stay on track and it’s working!
What the candidates say:
Lib Shaw: “To my surprise, I’ve really enjoyed coming to the gym. I feel great having lost 1 stone and going down two dress sizes. I’m more aware of what I eat now and like everyone have moments and sometimes days of complacency, but Faye brings me back into line again which keeps me focused on my goal.”
Lisa Faircloth: “I’ve continued to lose even more inches around my thighs and reduce my body fat even more that I thought was possible at my age. I am wearing smaller sized clothes that I also thought I’d never have the confidence to wear. I’ve entered a 10km run this autumn which is proof of how my mental state and motivation has grown, I’ve never been able to run properly until now!”
Sam Taylor: “It’s like I’ve been given a second chance to get on with something I’ve been battling with for ages. Festy meets me weekly to put me through my paces and make sure I’m working hard enough but also making sure I’m enjoying what I’m doing. I do enjoy the gym but I also love joining into the variety of classes.
Kirsty Leggot: “I’ve found being under the watchful eye of Shauny and the tfd team really motivating. I used to find it a chore to come to the gym, but once I started to lose weight & feel better about myself, it’s become a part of my lifestyle. I’ve continued to lose weight and stay motivated and am wearing smaller dress sizes which is exactly what I asked for! I really enjoy some of the classes too as when I book in, I feel committed to going, then end up working really hard and feeling great!
